What’s This Spice Receives Expansion Grant

March 13, 2014

The Newport Economic Development Commission (NEDC) has awarded a jobs based incentives grant to What’s This Spice Company for an expansion of the company’s popular spice label. What’s This has received approval to use college logos on their various spices and rubs from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). They plan to have a line of What’s This Spice products with the Arkansas Razorback logo that is targeted at college football fans and tailgaiters. The Newport Economic Development Commission is proud to work with local Jackson County manufacturing businesses to help them find ways to expand and reach new markets. “Helping our local industries expand is a win/win,” says Jon Chadwell, Executive Director of the NEDC, “they are able to grow their business and we are able to increase job opportunities in our community. Our existing industries already know that Jackson County is a great place to do business and we already know that they are great business partners for our community so helping them expand is very rewarding.” Job Creation Grants from the Newport Economic Development Commission are available through the 1/2 cent sales tax approved and then renewed by the voters of Newport.
